Porsche Taycan: The most innovative car

Yes, you read it right. Porsche Taycan has been declared as the most innovative car in the world by the Scientists. If I were employed by Porsche or owned a Taycan I'd probably be sending emails to my friends/colleagues/rivals from other outfits and carmakers to brag about it.

Thanks to a total of 27 new developments, the Porsche Taycan is the most important innovation driver in the global automotive market. 13 of these, or almost half, are world firsts. These are the conclusions of the new Automotive INNOVATIONS Report published by the Center of Automotive Management (CAM). That is CRAZY!

What is CAM?

The CAM is an independent scientific institute for strategic consulting and empirical automotive research at the University of Applied Sciences (FHDW) in Bergisch Gladbach, Germany. The group conducted this research along with a consulting company called PwC (PricewaterhouseCoopers) on around 250 vehicles for 2019-2020.

They have concluded the Taycan is the best of the bunch, chiefly because of the way Porsche utilized the (Rimac-sourced) 800-volt architecture and the KERS-style system.

So, what are the achievement of the Taycan?

Porsche has won around 40 international awards with the Taycan, including Performance and Luxury Car of the Year 2020 (WCOTY). Porsche being Porsche. These Germans I tell you.

It is just mindboggling crazy how the company’s first all-electric sports car has so quickly achieved a place on the top step of the podium in the Automotive INNOVATIONS awards.

Technical innovations such as the 800-volt architecture, short charging times. The two-speed transmission on the rear axle which guarantees a unique driving experience.

Let me introduce you to the list of awards this electric powered psycho sports car achieved-

Specs of Taycan

The Taycan 4S, Turbo and Turbo S drive all four wheels with two electric motors. The peak outputs of 522 horsepower (4S with base battery), 563 horsepower (4S with bigger battery), 670 horsepower (Turbo), and 750 (Turbo S) only last for short bursts of 2.5 seconds at a time.

Activate launch control, and the Porsche knocks out a one-two shift that is as quick and as hard as any gas-powered sports car.

The Taycan is equipped with myriad driver-assistance technologies. Porsche's à la carte options include additional convenience and safety features such as adaptive cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, and blind-spot monitoring. Key safety features include:

❏ Standard lane-departure warning and lane-keeping assistance

❏ Available blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert

Rivals?

The Porsche Taycan really doesn’t have its own competitor. But the closes you can match with is the Tesla Model S. Maybe even the Jaguar I-Pace. Yes, I agree that the I-Pace is not even performance-oriented neither a looker, well it’s an EV the least. Comparing to the segment then the Porsche rivals the BMW M8 Gran Coupe, Mercedes AMG GT.
